Fragrance is a WORLD first and foremost, upon which stories are constructed. Think of it as a platform for storytelling, whether that be written pieces, comics, animation, or (my favorite) D&D campaigns and missions.

  1. The vast majority of this notion workspace is completely empty. Feel free to peruse the pages at your leisure, and add whatever you think is cool!

  2. Some good pages to look at first are:

    Scope

    Inspiring Media

    Influences

  3. All existing scripts are collected in Stories and Scenes

Background

I based most of Fragrance’s basic worldbuilding off of Hong Kong, purely for practical purposes. Since I’m so familiar with the city, it is easy to translate geography, setting, and flavor into a sci-fi fantasy world. Feel free to add whatever you like to the world. Literally anything. As long as it doesn’t contradict what’s already there we’re good. (Even if it does, we’re still fine tbh)

Writing Process (Important)

So here’s how we “build” this world:

  1. Decide what kind of story you want to write
  2. Start writing the story.
  3. At any point in time, if you feel like you need to explain a component of the world, then pause the story-writing and note the details down in THIS NOTION.
  4. Continue writing the story

This story-centric process prevents us from getting trapped in the common “lets build everything” cycle, where we do a ton of worldbuilding but fail to create any actual output. Writing the story FIRST, and only worldbuilding as needed, gives us a full-feeling and detailed setting while also guaranteeing that a story comes out of the other end.
